Nuneaton and North Warwickshire

What's happening?

Updated on 6th July 2020:

The Steering Group has met and identified the following three areas of focus:

1. Food Poverty

A grant of £30,000 was given to enable 12,000 frozen meals and family hampers to be distributed to families who are in severe and moderate food poverty in Warwickshire, and Saints Nuneaton will be a distribution point for the meals. We are working with the Giving Stream who provide the meals on the basis that for every meal purchased, 1 meal is then given for FREE to a family in need, we can therefore double our support to 24,000 meals.

2. Mental Wellbeing Support

The group will engage with the 'Keeping Health in Mind' course led by the Revd Ali Hogger and will train volunteers to support people who have struggled with their mental wellbeing.

3. Supporting schools, children and their families

We are currently researching the best means of supporting schools and are exploring training with the organisation 'Faith in Schools' which will seek to enable bereavement support groups, befriending groups, and online support groups for mental wellbeing amongst children and young people who have struggled during the pandemic.

As society begins to open up, and new emerging demands become apparent, we will seek to be responsive and flexible in our approach.

How do I get involved?

If you would like to volunteer to support others, sign up for different projects through Warwickshire Community & Voluntary Action (WCAVA).

If you would like to volunteer at a Food Bank, you can do so in Nuneaton, Bedworth, and Rugby.
