Over 8000 knitted poppies have been created by members of St Peter's congregation and villagers in Wellesbourne ahead of this year's Remembrance commemorations.
The majority of the 8000 poppies have been stitched together to form a huge cascade that flows down from the church tower. The rest of the poppies have been placed around the village including at Wellesbourne CE Primary School and Nursery, Wellesbourne Methodist Church, the war memorial and in 25 shop windows.
In January the organising team met and began knitting, with the initial aim of knitting 4000 poppies. Many people from the village came on board and they ended up doubling their target by knitting and crocheting 8003 poppies. The project brought many people together across the village and was a real community effort.
The display was unveiled on the 28th of October and will remain up until the 20th of November.
