Pray for Nagorno-Karabakh

The Bishop of Coventry’s Christmas message to Nagorno-Karabakh is a call to prayer for a region that has seen sustained violence since the 1990s.

The region is ethnically and historically Armenian but has been controlled by Azerbaijan since the 1920s when both were part of the Soviet Union. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union control of Nagorno-Karabakh has been contested by Armenia and Azerbaijan. This year’s violence has had a significant humanitarian impact, as well as creating uncertainty over the future of Armenian cultural identity in the region.
