St Chad's, Bishops Tachbrook has partnered with a group from Warwickshire County Council Adult Learning Centre to open its doors to host a free foundational language scheme for 15 newly arrived guests from Ukraine.
English classes happen twice weekly with safeguarded volunteers and trainers. A simple shuffle of the north aisle has created the safe space for two university lecturers to teach conversational English, enabling the vital initial transitions into British life. This project alongside other church initiatives is renewing the life spirit of the church.
Priest-in-Charge, the Revd Jonathan Smith says:
"The congregation has been thrilled to support and host these lessons and it goes very much in support of our overall vision to embed a community ethos into everything we do here. The historical resources we hold for God can be utilised in faithfulness to Christ now and we strive to develop effective ways to use all our assets towards supporting our church family and neighbourhood outreach."
There is a textbook and general support fund set aside for this ministry. Prayers for the project are very much appreciated.
