The Bishop of Coventry announces that the Revd Canon Kate Massey is stepping down as Dean of Women’s Ministry after seven and a half years in post.

Bishop Christopher writes:

“Kate has been a great colleague and has made a really important contribution to the workings of the Core Staff Team and to the life of the Diocese. I’ve valued her advice and support. I’ve appreciated her wisdom and good judgement. I’ve admired her commitment to the better ministry and fuller life of clergy throughout the church and her analysis of ways in which the ministry of women is often impeded in subtle ways embedded into the culture of the Church. I’ve appreciated her readiness to come up with ideas and put her energies into projects that will lead to the greater flourishing of women in the ministry and mission of the Diocese.

Kate’s role as Chair of the National Association of Diocesan Advisers in Women's Ministry (NADAWM) shows that her gifts and skills have been recognised across the Church of England and I’m really grateful that we have had the benefit of Kate’s work as Dean of Women’s Ministry for over seven years in the Diocese of Coventry.”

Kate Massey says:

“My heartfelt thanks go to all the colleagues with whom I have worked over the past seven and a half years and who have made this ministry a joy. It has been a privilege to serve the Diocese of Coventry and its outstanding women clergy. My thanks also go to the people of St Paul’s Church Stockingford who generously supported me as I fulfilled this role. I will continue as Vicar of St Paul’s while undertaking some further academic research.”

Kate will be standing down as DoWM at the end of July. Bishop Christopher invites expressions of interest in the role to succeed her. The Dean of Women’s Ministry is a member of the Bishop’s Core Staff. She plays a vital part in advising the Bishop and helping the Diocese to be an environment in which women in ministry flourish.

Please feel free to talk with Kate about the role and/or contact Christine Camfield if you have further questions. Interviews will take place on 27th June.
