The Annual Meeting of Parishioners and the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) must be held by the end of May each year. A checklist to help you prepare and template notices can be downloaded from the Parish Resources website here. The website also contains template nomination forms for PCC members, and other information which you may find helpful.
2025 is the six-yearly renewal of electoral rolls. Rather than simply revising the rolls as usual, a new roll must be prepared and everyone currently on the roll will need to reapply to join it. Notice of the preparation of a new roll must be given at least 2 months before the APCM. Further information and a template for giving notice is on the Parish Resources website here. For any queries on APCMs please contact Matt Jermyn.
Following the meeting, parishes should submit details of their elected Churchwardens to Simon Taylor by 1 June.
Deanery Synod lay members are elected at APCMs every three years and the next elections will take place in 2026. For any queries on these elections please contact Helen Groocock.
After the APCM has taken place, each parish should send several pieces of information to the Diocesan Office by 1 July:
- The number on the electoral roll at the date of the APCM
- A copy of the Annual Report and Financial Statements
Parishes also need to update the names and contact details of the PCC Secretary and Treasurer, and those elected to deanery synod. From June, PCC Secretaries will receive an email with a link to update this information in the Contact Management System (CMS). This Checklist of the information required and how to submit it may be helpful.
For any queries about the information required from parishes please contact the Diocesan Office.
Further information about submitting the Statistics for Mission, Return of Parish Finance and Energy Footprint Tool data can be found on the Parish Return page.
