In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus said “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew, 19:14). Jesus placed children at the centre of his teachings and the Church need children and young people to be at the centre of our plans.
Growing Faith is a movement that exists to change the culture of the Church of England so that everyone instinctively puts children and young people at the heart of all we do as a Church. Our diocese was one of the first six Growing Faith trailblazer dioceses that helped shape Growing Faith before it launched nationally in 2022.
The 2021 census highlighted that 21% of Church of England parishes are classed as deprived urban estate parishes. These parishes account for 56% of the population overall, but 62% of the population of children and youth.
Across the diocese several parishes are responding to this need by employing Children, Youth and Families workers to reach out to their local community with the love of Jesus. Some of these posts have been made possible through the support of the Church Commissioners through targeted funding alongside contributions from the local parishes.
We currently have three Children, Youth and Families workers vacancies on our website:
- Growing Faith Families Minister at St Francis of Assisi
- Growing Faith Families Worker at Coventry All Saints
- Missional Family Worker at Holy Trinity, Attleborough
Each of these vacancies are looking to be filled by someone with a vibrant Christian faith and a passion for enabling families, children, and young people to grow in faith.
Please see the vacancies section of our website for more details about these roles and please do share among your networks.
