In February of this year Bishop Paul Thomas was consecrated Bishop of Oswestry. After consultation with the Bishop’s Council, Bishop Christopher is pleased to appoint Bishop Paul as an Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Coventry.
Bishop Christopher writes:
“It has been a joy to work with Bishop Paul in a number of settings since his consecration last February, and I’m delighted that he has agreed to become an Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Coventry. Bishop Paul’s passion for the evangelisation of the nation and the building up of the Church will be an inspiring example to all of us.”
Bishop Paul says:
“I am delighted and privileged to be licenced by the Bishop of Coventry as Assistant Bishop in the Diocese. And whilst the focus of my ministry is to serve and support those parishes in the Diocese which hold a traditional catholic understanding of ministry and the sacraments, I nevertheless stand ready to assist the Diocese in any way I can more widely during the period of Vacancy-in-See and into the future. May God bless richly his Church in the Diocese of Coventry.”
Bishop Paul’s predecessor Bishop Jonathan Goodall, who occupied the See of Ebbsfleet, was also an Assistant Bishop in the Diocese. You can find more information on the ministry of the Bishop of Oswestry the website.
