Thought for the day from Barry Jackson

Jesus said, ‘Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. Matt 7: 24-25

Coping or not coping?  Solid or shaky? We can all have times in life when we feel like we are at the edge of our ability to cope.  There have certainly been times in this season of Covid-19, when juggling an increased workload, that I’ve lost sight of the very practices that give life and stability when caught in a storm.   It’s a trap that I’ve fallen into all too often in the past… and probably will again.  Yet, I’ve learned to recognise the warning signs, to calm my enthusiasm for ‘getting on with the job’ and to make space again to allow God to pour his love into my soul; drawing on his strength and coming back to solid ground.  My prayer for us all, as we continue to navigate the uncertainty caused by the pandemic (and as we begin to look at how we can help renew our churches and communities in a post Covid-19 world) is that we would keep coming back to that place of stability, so that in the midst of this storm we would know that we are always held by, and precious to, God.
