The Revd Jim Perryman, former Vicar of All Saints, Leek Wootton and Clergy with PTO in Kenilworth Deanery, is undertaking a charity bike ride across France.
Four years ago, Jim embarked on a cycle ride from Taizé, in the Burgundy hills, to Tours. A few weeks after his return, and with no apparent link to his journey, he was hit with a major medical problem which led to a significant section of his intestine being removed, resulting in him now living with a Stoma. Thankfully, Jim has been blessed with a full recovery following the excellent care he received. As he approaches his 70th birthday, he wants to give thanks for the care and support he received by raising funds, primarily, for the main UK Stoma Support charity, Colostomy UK.
Jim will start his ride in Tours and continue to cycle solo, along the ‘Loire à Vélo’ route to Angers, and then to join a different long-distance cycle route, ‘La Vélo Francette’ which concludes at the ferry port in Ouistreham, a total of roughly 450km in 7 days.
Three Christian charities (ICS, Friends of the Holy Land, and Agapé France) that Jim is closely linked to are helping to promote the ride, and will each receive 5% of the funds raised.
