Developing Women in Leadership programme

What is available?

The Developing Women in Leadership programme was launched in 2014, marking the 20th anniversary of the first ordinations of women as priests in the Church of England. At the same time women had come forward to ask for support to grow in their leadership roles. The course aims to be a step in that journey of exploration with God. Coventry Diocese has been a place of flourishing for many women's ministry. As the ministry of women continues to develop, we want to build on that legacy.

The programme is run over the course of a year, and consists of two residentials (one at the beginning of the year and one at the end) and a Summer Study Day in between.

Our hope is that by the end of the course participants will be more:

  • Confident in their present role
  • Equipped to meet some of the challenges that they face
  • Encouraged to keep taking steps on in leadership
  • Inspired by being with and hearing from other women with exciting ministries

Who is eligible?

Women in active ordained ministry in the Diocese of Coventry, usually those who expect 10 years or more ahead in licensed ministry. The course will have 9 participants a year which should enable us to invite all such women over the next five years. The Study Day is open to all clergy women and men who are interested in exploring ways of empowering women in leadership.

How do I access it?

Women in active ordained ministry in the Diocese of Coventry will receive an invitation to take part in the programme.
